How to Choose a Bikini Top That Actually Stays Put

The best bikini top is one you can stop thinking about once you put it on. Whether you are swimming, walking the beach or spending a full day outside, the right fit should feel secure without constant adjusting.

1. Start with the strap style

Straps change how a top distributes support. Fixed shoulder straps can feel especially secure for active days because there are fewer ties to loosen, while adjustable straps and ties let you fine-tune the fit around your body.

The Rowan Top uses fixed shoulder straps, a scoop neckline and supportive underbust. The Indah Top is a classic string triangle with sliding cups plus adjustable neck and back ties.

2. Look for a close, comfortable fit

A top that is too loose is more likely to shift. A secure fit should sit smoothly against the body without painful digging, gaping or needing to be readjusted every few minutes. Midori's four-way stretch fabric is designed to move with you while maintaining a substantial feel.

3. Match the construction to your bust and activity

Triangle tops are useful when you want adjustability and control over cup placement. Scoop styles with supportive underbust can offer a more anchored feel for movement. If you are choosing between styles, think about what you will actually be doing in the suit, not only how it looks standing still.

4. Know the difference between fixed and adjustable

Adjustability is useful, but it is not automatically better for every shopper. Indah lets you customize the neck, back and cup placement. Rowan is intentionally fixed through the shoulder straps for a clean, secure feel. All current Midori bikini tops include removable padding.

Mia and Jesse are returning in 2026 and will add more adjustable support options to the assortment.

5. Test the top before your beach day

  • Raise both arms overhead.
  • Lean forward and rotate through your torso.
  • Check that the underbust stays flat and the cups remain in place.
  • Adjust ties or straps until the fit feels secure without digging.

If you are unsure about sizing, use our Bikini Top Fit Guide before ordering. Midori also offers free 30-day U.S. returns, so you can assess the fit at home.
