How to Shop for More Responsible Swimwear
Shopping for more responsible swimwear is less about finding one perfect “eco-friendly” label and more about looking for specific information: what the fabric is tested for, how the suit is constructed, how much is produced and whether the brand is transparent about what it does and does not claim.
Look for specific material standards
Current Midori swim fabric is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. That certification means the certified textile has been tested against a defined list of substances that OEKO-TEX® identifies as harmful to human health. It does not mean the fabric is biodegradable, recycled or carbon neutral.
Consider durability and construction
A swimsuit you enjoy wearing repeatedly is more useful than one built around a vague marketing claim. Midori uses soft four-way stretch swim fabric and three-layer construction in current bikinis for a substantial feel without unnecessary bulk.
Understand what the brand is actually claiming
- OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified: a specific textile testing standard.
- UPF 50+: sun-protective swim fabric.
- Small-batch production: Midori produces in smaller quantities rather than relying on large-volume seasonal production.
- Recycled shipping packaging: part of our current packaging approach.
We do not currently claim that Midori swim fabric is biodegradable or made from recycled or regenerated fibers.
Choose the fit you will actually wear
Fit matters too. Choose the coverage, support and adjustability that suit your real beach days. Midori separates let you choose different top and bottom sizes, and our current range includes skimpy, cheeky and moderate bottom coverage.
Care for swimwear to extend its useful life
